I believe that there will be pain after an operation, however, if several days have passed and the pain is still the same, then it may be serious. You should consult your doctor.

<font size="2">I recently (7 days ago) had ACL reconstruction done with my autograft hamstring from the same knee. I am now experiencing what I suppose you may call a severe soreness/stretch located in my inner, mid-sural(calf) region which continues to my popliteal (back of knee) region. When my leg is in a lateral position I feel absolutely no pain whatsoever. However, when in a vertical position, I feel an INTENSE stretch in the area described above. Why is this? It may also be important for me to note that I was able to "walk" without crutches the day after surgery (without pain) in my locked brace.

What is causing this pain?
