I've torn my ACL 4 times, once in my left knee and three times in my right knee and I heard the click/pop every single time. I tore it again last week and I got up and was walking fine and it hasnt buckled on me once and the swelling didnt come until the next day but I knew the second it happened that it was my ACL. Two of my tears were really painful and the other two werent painful at all so its kind of hard to tell so I would just go get it checked out. The doctor should be able to tell pretty quick if he/she can feel and endpoint or not. Good luck!

I was playing basketball and after a layup in traffic, i landed only on my right leg which i then heard/felt a cracking/popping noise and fell instantly to the ground (assuming my knee buckled and gave out)......but i was able to get up and walk without any assistance. At the moment, my knee still has all its range of motions and there is no severe pain (knee just feels a little stiff) and no significant swelling. I'm wondering if the cracking/popping noise is ALWAYS correlated to an ACL injury? or is it possible that the my ACL is fine despite hearing the infamous popping/cracking noise? Thanks for any help!
