Hi everyone.
I had a football (soccer) injury 7months ago,I was in agony for weeks/months, had physio and MRI scan to confirm Acl rupture, torn meniscus and sprained pcl.
Had op last Friday 6/1/2012 in morning, the Acl was completely detached. Surgeon did acl reconstruction using patellar tenden and a Meniscectomy.
I had to stay in overnight as blood was pouring out if I stood up.
Im at home now and can only get about via crutches and lots of painkillers too.
I'm keeping the leg raised and icing every two hours for 20minutes. Small excercise 5times a day. I can straighten the leg but not fully - i cannot bend it much, I struggle to bend the knee and get a lot of pain in the morning.
I wasnt given a leg machine or leg brace.
I feel for anyone going through this, its tougher than I thought. I can only get from bed to couch unable to walk and struggle to get to the toilet. I had a 7 month wait before I could have the op and I was up the gym 3 times a week, but already I'm feeling drained of energy.
I'm using my good leg under my bad to move from sitting to lying positions. I can't move my leg on its own without severe pain.my girlfriend has been a angel too helping me through this.
Good luck to everyone, its been helpful reading through other people experiences 6 days after op and i have a few questions:-
1) How much could other people bend there knee?
2) Also how long before you can walk without crutches?
3) When does the pain ease off seems to be relentless?
4) Also have numbness to the outer side of the knee and it feel really tight and gives of a lot of heat? Is this normal?
i am concerned also about the and swelling, bruising is yellow, red, purple and swelling comes and goes and changes according to what posistion im in.
Thanks in advance
