Cheers for the reply. Up to 2.5 weeks now, dressing off and all looks good. Feels odd though.

Swelling gone down a lot but still swollen around the patella graft site, and sore if I stand up for too long.

Seen my PT 3 times since the op. They've got me exercising it 2-3 times a day, gently.

Still struggling to get my leg completely straight and have been told to stop unsupported leg raises (fine with a pillow under the knee) until I can build up the inside muscle just above the patella and lock the leg straight, otherwise could overstrain the graft.

Hoping to get back to work next week (office based so should be OK) but will take it very easy at first. Just about got rid of the crutches so at least there is progress, but looking forward to the day me knee feels my own again!

Don't worry, it's normal. Try not to push yourself too hard. Exercising is good, but trying to do too much too quickly could just cause you to reinjure your knee. Don't do knee exercises every day, either. You should give your knee a day to heal and rest between exercises. Have you talked to a physical therapist about setting up a workout routine?

Op went well and the post-op scan showed no problems. Tried to start on the physio the same day, but it's just so painful!

However I am persevering and after two-days I'm doing the heel-on-floor leg bending exercise to about 90 degrees (just!), can also straighten the leg and lift a few inches off the floor (this hurts the patella area like hell though!). When not doing the exercises I'm keeping it elevated and ice on for 20 minute periods a few times throughout the day.

Am also trying the quad-tighten exercise but finding this difficult also - can't seem to stop tensing the wrong muscles.

Is it meant to be this tough first few days in? I'm trying not to allow the rest of my joints to take the strain and more-so the knee in question, however they are (in particular groin) beginning to get sore now.

Is this normal?
