My very active, very athletic friend recently suffered a fall during an intermural soccer game that left her with a torn ACL and facing surgery. I've been there with her the whole time, but it's been difficult to console her because I've never had such an injury, and my friends and I are active people. She can no longer participate in a lot of our regular activities, like going out to dance parties on weekends, going to school sponsored dances, participating in athletics, playing with children, etc. Do you have any advice on how to deal with this situation? We should be encouraging her, but what is it safe for her to do with this injury?
