Growing pains
I knew something was wrong as a 12 year old, going through a growth spurt. I couldn't bend my knees fully kneeling down. It was impossible and painful. I played athletics regardless, until lower back spasms came along during high school. I gave up all sports by my senior year. I also had degenerating eyesight!
When they say, "growing pains" I had them seriously from age 12 to 19. My left knee has the larger OS bump. My right knee is fine, its OS bump doesn't pain me at all.
I'm 38 now, its wintertime and my OS bump is tender. I'm going to have surgery removing the bump much as possible eventually.
Everyone should learn why the OS happens. Stretch the leg muscles properly, thigh muscles and hamstrings. Take a selection of vitamins.
Its tough on kids they don't understand the pain. Some of us never grow out of it. But during my twenties, I was busy in college and not playing anything more than rec sports, giving my body time to mature, I didn't have knee pain. Thats the key, find some time to not be so athletic and let the leg bones solidify a little harder as the body gets older. Do sports like swimming where so much stress isn't on the OS bone and knee tendon.
I can kneel down now, bang my knee into things and its not bad. It just feels soft and weird during the wintertimes, I'm sick of it and looking for surgery in the future to rid me of the bump.
Hang in there everybody who's suffering with it. I feel your pain.
Those with degenerating eyesight, I was finally saved with laser surgery. I can see without glasses and contacts, I'm almost normal finally!
I also had braces on my teeth from age 30 to 32!
Its never too late getting over adolescent problems! It's just so costly now.
