Osteochondritis Dessicans I am 38, female 5' 5" and I weigh 135lbs. I am from a large boned family and I was diagnosed with OCD at age 14. I wonder if this condition is characteristic of any particular group. My heritage is half scadanavian and half black american with some american indian. I have been a runner for 24 years. I recently underwent the microfracture procedure after an MRI revealed that I needed to stop running and try to regenerate some of the missing cartilage. I had this 5/1/03 and am still waiting to see how well the procedure can help me. I do not expect to ever be back to optimal joint health. I have no regrets of having run for all those years when I was told not to. I feel lots of joint pain in my recovery but I am confident that in my recovery that I will gain more and more strentght and have less and less pain at least that is the idea. I am just very curios as to the type of person that is afflicted with this condition.
