2 Lateral Release surgeries and still the pain continues
I am 22 years old, and I have have the lateral release surgery done on each of my knees. The first one was done in Jan 03 and the second in April of 03. My knee problems started when I was in elementary school. They tried to say it was growing pains, but it got to the point that I couldnt walk. So I knew for sure it was not growing pains. I went to an ortho and they said that I had floating knee caps in both knees and that nothing could be done about it until I was atleast 18. So I had to wear those horrible knee braces with the metal bars running un and down them for about 6 months. My pain went away for years. It came back when I was in highschool and decided to start playing softball. I had knee braces on everyday and icing my knee 24/7. At age 19 I finally went to another Ortho who with one X-ray said I needed to go into surgery for both knees soon. I love my ortho, he is straight to the point and does not bs. He let me know ahead of time that there is no guarantee that the release would work but they had to start somewhere to attempt to releave the pain. My knees would swell after standing for an hour. They were filling with fluids and having to be drained. Unfortunately though neither one of the release surgeries worked, therefore I go this friday to see my ortho to set up the knee cap realignment surgery for both knees, also know as TTT. I pray that this works! Its actually getting depressing being only 22 years old and alreay limited to almost every activity. When I go to the mall, I have a time limit of an hour otherwise I can barely walk out because the pain and swelling is so bad. I have researched the TTT surgery but I would like to hear from someone that has had it done. Please feel free to email me with any info or any questions.
