Might help someone. Read This!!!!
I have been diagnosed with Bilateral Malaysia Patella. This is due to the rate of growth. When i was 13 i was 5ft2/3 and 3 years later i am 5ft11 and still growing. I was only diagnosed last year. What happened was my bones around my knees had gone soft, this caused great pain even if i wasn't doing anything
Eventually i took myself to the doctors and he referred me to the fracture clinic.
It has now been 2 years since i have been able to walk properly, i have gone through x-rays,blood tests, Mri scans and a years worth of intense physiotheraphy, also hydrotheraphy. I have been i a full pot from the top of my thigh to my angle for 6 weeks, been in a half pot for 6 months and i still have knee supports, otherwise i wouldn't be able to go shopping. I still cannot do much the only easy activity i can do is to go swimming. I still have cruches to help me some days. I have a 50% chance that i will get back to normal or it could affect me for the rest of my life.
I hope my story helps someones questions
and i am happy to answer a e-mail. The only real advice is if you have a problem with your knees or anything else go to a doctor and ask for a referel to a hospital. (Doctors only know so much, consultants in a hospital know more!!)
