Knee Pains, need advice
I've been having pain in my right knee since childhood (I am now 21). Years ago, the doctor diagnosed it as growing pains. Fast forward to today, and the pains are back. I can only describe the pain as a constant irritation or burning sensation on my right knee cap. If I press down on the upper part of the knee cap (closest to my quadriceps), it will hurt slightly. The knee is in pain when there is stress on it (jumping, squatting) or if I leave the knee bent (with no weight on it, such as sitting or sleeping) for a long period of time. In the case of my leaving the knee bent, the pain goes away once I straighten my leg out, but will return if I decide to keep the knee bent again.
To be honest, the pain was worse when I was younger. It almost went away these past few years, but the other day after doing squats at the gym, it started hurting again. Keep in mind that the pains only started up again within the past week, after subsiding considerably since childhood. From childhood until recently, I have been able to squat down without any pain (with or without weights), however I have always been able to hear the knee 'click' whenever it is bent with pressure on it. Any advice as to what might be the diagnosis of the pain would be appreciated.
