Unbearable Knee Pain
I am a 46 year old male who has always been fairly active and never have had any problems concerning leg pain until this year.
I recently purchased my first computer probably 16 months ago and have been very active at it, teaching myself website design, assorted programs and whatnot.
Somedays I can spend as much as 8 to 12 hours on the darn thing before I realize I need a break.
This may have lead to some de-conditioning I suppose but many people have office jobs and don't have any problem.
At any rate, over the last 3 months or so I have managed to lose to very good jobs due to this pain I am experiencing in what started out to be my right knee, and now is in both knees.
I can't make it through an 8 hour day without feeling like I have 50lbs of weight put on both knees.
Lifting and carrying any form of weight increases the pain that much more. If I sit for 15 or 20 minutes my legs seem to lock in that position and it's hard to straighten them back out.
The more I walk the worse it gets till I'm almost walking straight legged the last half of a work shift as I can't bend at the knee without it killing me.
I wake in the middle of the night, sometimes with my leggs bent at the knee, and to get them to straighten out is a 30 to 40 minute high intensity pain ordeal.
It's as if they are locked in place, this is a deep burning/stabbing pain when I try to move at the knee. All encapsulating, not really the knee itself, but the surrounding tissue. And it does seem to radiate down thru the back of my calf.
I'll tell ya this stuff really sucks, I am on a course of meds after seeing a doctor, and some talk of possible surgery may be in order if the treatment doesn't work.
I'm thinking maybe I need a health spa and some leg exercises.
It does seem to get better with time, but as soon as I land a job and begin to put in those 8 to 10 hour days it starts right back up.
This has never happened to me before, and I am besides myself over it. I need to work to pay my bills, but the pain is kicking my butt. I am a skilled construction worker and most jobs I do require a lot of walking, step ladders, all day on my feet.
Maybe I need to go back to school and change professions ha! ha!
Anyone else out there experiencing this kind of stuff. If so, and you found some relief, please share your secret.
Thanks
jb
