Knees and rheumatoid Arthritis
Hello,
I have rheumatoid arthritis and have kept it pretty well, under control naturally for many years. In the last several years my knees got real bad. I just couldn't keep it under control in my knees. I was told by an orthapedic surgeon yesterday that my knees are shot and that I need knee replacements. I am very concerned about going through it, because he told me that there is a risk with RA. He said I could deveope an infection, and if I did, they would have to go back in and take out what they put in. They would put some cement in the area, and put me on anti biotics for 6 weeks. Then after that they would go back in and try again. Having an auto immune system disease makes me nervous about having it done. Is there anyone here who has RA and has had knee replacement, and did you have problems?
