torn miniscus - surgery in Oct
In 1990, I tore my right medial miniscus, but it was misdiagnosed. For about 10 years, I used a knee support every time I exercised and occationally experienced slight knee pain. Three years ago I started doing Yoga intensely. After 6 months of Yoga my knee pain stoped and I did not need a knee support for exercise. 6 weeks ago I tore my right medial miniscus while hiking in the same spot, and now I'm scheduled for surgery in October. It seems that my miniscus was partially healed, but still had a weakness.
I hate the idea of having part of my miniscus removed and would like to tough it out except every bit of advise that I've gotten is to have the surgery.
I would welcome any stories and advise from anyone who has had a torn miniscus, especially alternative viewpoints to surgery.
