COMMUNITY: Patient Stories

just been diagnosed after 5 years suffering!

Hi I'm 16 years old and have been suffering from knee troubles since i was 11 I kept going to the doctors and all they said was come back if it hurts again. I did that various times and just got the same old story. Eventually, about 2 months ago, i went to a new doctor and she referred me for physiotherapy. the bad thing is, i still havent been given an appointment! Some days I can't even walk and am in excruciating pain. Today (20th March 2006) I visited the chiropractor and he diagnosed me with CP. It is a great relief to finally know what uis actually wrong with me. Although my doctor said there was nothing wrong with my bones and I didnt need an x-ray, the chiropractor told me I needed an x-ray and a scan to show how serious my condition is. I've found out that the state my knees are in would be perfectly normal if i was 75. I'm only 16! The chiropractor was surprised I hadnt been referred for treatment or to an orthopaedic surgeon much sooner. I find it quite annoying that I have known nothing about my condition for 5 years, despite visiting doctors repeatedly. The fact that I wasnt even given a vague idea of what could be wrong with me is quite shocking. Hopefully I should be given some treatment soon!
