Fractured Patella + Arthroscopy

I had an arthroscopy and an operation to fix my fractured patella (cannot remember the operation name) on June 8,2004. I have been told to wear a brace for 6 weeks. I started doing physiotherapy 4 days after the operation by doctor's instructions. My quads (upper thigh muscles) are totally useless. Apparently they have to be retrained to work again, so that I can walk again. The pain was not at all that bad after the operation. Only thing was for 2 days after the operation I was really moody and depressed. Apparently that was because of all the medicines that is pumped into your body. I am 'hopping' on crutches now. I have started to put weight on my knee 9 days after the operation by my doctor's instructions (with the brace on). I am doing physiotherapy every second day and can really see an improvement. My biggest problem is now to bend my knee. It is very difficult to bend it! Icing the knee after physiotherapy is also important. Helps reduce swelling. My doctor want me to start walking without crutches on the 18th day of recovery. I think he is crazy. Today is day nr.14 and I can barely walk properly with the crutches. I will try my best though, because he knows best. He is a well renowned German Orthopedic Surgeon.
