Femoral damage
First of all, I am on coumadin for a St. Jude's valve. On April 16th I had arthroscopic surgery on my right knee, on April 18th I was given 2 units of blood and on April 22, 2002 I was given 4 more units of blood, I was hemorraging into my right thigh. On April 25th I under went more surgery on the right thigh, they removed 3 1/2 liters of blood. I ended up with a stiff knee, I had 60 plus therapy treatments which made it worse. My doctor don't want to see me anymore, he said to do therapy and get on with my life. I have seen 3 other specialist and they have all said they have never heard of this and they have never had a case like mine, even my surgeon told me that. The last doctor I went to took x rays of the right knee and said the knee is good, so they did an EMG and it showed that the muscles and the femoral nerve got damaged during the thigh surgery and there is nothing to be done for me, to give myself a couple more months and if no improvement by then, maybe they could put me in a brace so I wouldn't have to use the walker all my life. But the pain is terrible all the time, such tingling and stabbing pains and the feeling of numbness.I am taking 300 mg of neurontin 2 times a day, and it might help alittle but not alot. Has anyone else been through what I am going through ? I would love to hear from you, any ideas and suggestions would be kindly appreciated. I am miserable !!!!
Thank You,
Faye
