Living with OCD I am 44 years old. When I was 21 I had knee surgery for OCD. The 'crater' was the size of a half dollar. No procedure was available back then to graft cartilage or promote new growth. However, I am still active phyisically. A key to living with OCD is to strengthen the muscles of the quads, so I lift weights on a regular basis and lift heavy weights. There are times when the pain becomes greater than usual due to exerting myself, but overall weight lifting has helped. Biking is a good form of exercise as well. There is always a small amount of pain and loss of mobility in the joint, but I'm able to live a fairly 'normal' life.
