waiting for the surgery
My daughter hurt her rt knee in a varsity softball game in early April, we did the standard x-rays which showed nothing, told a proable mcl sprain, did the follow up in 1 week with our Dr., swelled so much he set up an appointment with orthopaedic Dr. He also spent about 3 minutes said get rid of the immobilizer and start pt, we did pt for 5 weeks. the therapist said something was not right but the Ortho Dr. cleared her to resume full schedule on June 15th,with no restrictions. On the 16th after particiapting in an open gym for the girls fall basketball season she complained again about how she had difficulty bending the knee back and that it felt like there was nothing there. I called the ortho Dr. and was told she could be seen again in August, we did not want to wait, took her to another Dr. who ordered a mri and found meniscal tear and possible acl tear now we are waiting on surgical consult and surgery, how could the Dr. miss this? Did the orginal pt cause more harm then helped? What can I expect?
