Cross Country runner with LCL, PCL surgeries

My son who is 17 has just recently undergone his first surgery to correct severe knee injuries. He is a cross-country and track runner, a swim team diver, and a ice hockey player. He led his high school cross-country team this year as a junior. With his senior year ahead of him, we had hopes of him winning a scholarship for his running talents, but now need some advice for his rehab to insure that he returns to his first love- RUNNING! His (first)surgery by the best in our area (Toledo, OH) was to reattach his LCL (at the fibula end) and re-position his miniscus that had torn loose. He is at home now awaiting his rehab opportunities and his second surgery to repair a severed PCL. Some nerve damage is present, but he maintains control of his foot movement, suffering only partial lose of the feeling in his foot. Amazingly, the surgeons have reported that upon examination during surgery- his ACL was intact, as well as his MCL. His nerve was intact but damaged, and they expect him to eventually regain the feeling and full control of his foot. Please let us know if there are any other runners out there that have "come back" from this type of injury......
