  • I am nearing my eighth week after having a right leg femoral osteotomy. It has gone more smoothly than I would ever had imagined. I went to the doctor last week and was told I could remove the leg brace and begin to bear full weight after being able to bear only fifty pounds of weight on the foot for seven weeks. I can walk without crutches although need them for balance on long walks. Pain is better as well as the position of my foot. I began swimming this week and feel great. He want to do my other leg in a few months but want to wait and see how this one is when strength is built up. I was expecting so much more pain and hassle than occurred after reading many online messages. I'm very happy I went through with it and hope it will postpone a TKR for years to come. Any other osteotomy stories out there. Hope yours are as good as mine! b
