  • I had a bike accident three years ago. I partially tore my ACL and lateral meniscus. I had an arthroscopy done where they trmmed the edges of the tear. I did not take the physiotherapy seriously and ended up with an instable knee. Recently, I twisted my leg while playing table tennis. The doctor told me that I had torn my ACL completely. He recommends surgery but right now, I can't afford it. The knee is very instable now. I wanted to know whether the surgery is required or could I manage without it.

  • I injured my ACL, LCL, and MCL on 5/6/04 playing softball. I have seen a total of four orthopedic specialist, have had three different knee braces and have spent eight month's in physical therapy. The doctor has still not made a decision to do surgery or not. Mean time I am going crazy. I cant do what I want, I feel like my life has been put on hold. I am very frustrated and extremely depressed. Is it normal for someone with my type of injury to wait so long for a decision???

  • Had ligament surgury a year ago. Doctor told me I could go back to work in 2 weeks. Tried to insist on Physical therapy cause I know alot of people who have had knee surgury of this type and he told me to get 2lb. weights and do leg lifts on my own to build up strenght. So I did and still do.Have always had alittle pain but its gotten worse. I am or was very active walking playing ball with grandkids and love going to dog trials with my lab and german shorthair. Went back to that Dr. and he told me to continue the same excersize and come back in 3 months. Told him some times I can't straighten it or the pain keeps me awake. He acted like it was all in my head. Has any of you had this kind of pain after a year and I may need a new doctor.

  • My son who is 17 has just recently undergone his first surgery to correct severe knee injuries. He is a cross-country and track runner, a swim team diver, and a ice hockey player. He led his high school cross-country team this year as a junior. With his senior year ahead of him, we had hopes of him winning a scholarship for his running talents, but now need some advice for his rehab to insure that he returns to his first love- RUNNING! His (first)surgery by the best in our area (Toledo, OH) was to reattach his LCL (at the fibula end) and re-position his miniscus that had torn loose. He is at home now awaiting his rehab opportunities and his second surgery to repair a severed PCL. Some nerve damage is present, but he maintains control of his foot movement, suffering only partial lose of the feeling in his foot. Amazingly, the surgeons have reported that upon examination during surgery- his ACL was intact, as well as his MCL. His nerve was intact but damaged, and they expect him to eventually regain the feeling and full control of his foot. Please let us know if there are any other runners out there that have "come back" from this type of injury......

  • My name is graham hill and im 19 years old.Back in january 2002 i was playing football for my county in england(cornwall u18) when my injury happend, at the time i was being scouted by a number of professional clubs in england included a few premiership teams such as spurs and southampton. i had played a excellent game scoring twice when a 16 stone 6ft 5 goalkeeper landed on my knee whilst i had gone up for a header. when this had happened i swear to this day that i heard a snapping noise as the keeper had landed on my knee!i dreaded to look at the damage as i thought my bone would be sticking through my footie socks, as it happens it wasnt and i decided that i would try to get off the floor, but couldnt. i was strectherd off and went to get showerd up thinking id just bruised my leg or somthing silly like that. later that night i got home i became increasinglly uncomfortable with my knee. by the next day i couldnt move my left leg and get out of bed, i couldnt walk on it either. so as soon as i could hop on 1 leg i went off to the doctor. and to cut a long story short for you till this day i am still waitng for an appointment to see any sort of person who could help put my knee right!! i have been in pain for almost two years now and no1 has helped me, not even physiotherpists. So i have gone from on the brink of professional football to 13 stone with a beer belly and a pain in the knee that will never go away. my football is now finished and i dont know what to do with myself. the docter told me that i had done SLIGHT ligament damage behind my knee cap. after 2 years i dont call that slight damage do you?i cant even go to the shops without moaning about my knee hurting so if any1 can help me out there with my on going injury i would love to hear from before it really is too late for me. • I sustained a complete tear to my PCL in an auto accident (MRI confirmed as well as physical appearance present) and feel very unstable on my left leg. I need direction to a good surgeon. There are very few of these around I'm finding. I would also appreciate input as to which technique is the best. (especially petalar tendon use vs. double quad tendon) Please share any information you may have.
