Waiting for a decision!

I injured my ACL, LCL, and MCL on 5/6/04 playing softball. I have seen a total of four orthopedic specialist, have had three different knee braces and have spent eight month's in physical therapy. The doctor has still not made a decision to do surgery or not. Mean time I am going crazy. I cant do what I want, I feel like my life has been put on hold. I am very frustrated and extremely depressed. Is it normal for someone with my type of injury to wait so long for a decision???
