  • Microfracture rehab
I'm 51 years old three weeks out of meniscectomy and mircofracture of femur and tibia on my left knee. The six-weeks of nonweight-bearing is tedious but necessary to allow the cartilage to reform without excessive force applied. Have researched rehab protocols on the Steadman Hawkins web site and my surgeon concurs. Am now pedalling for 30 minutes (without resistance) 3-4 times/week, doing 100-200 heel-slides, quad sets and straight-leg raises each day without significant pain or swelling. If you've had microfracture, hang in there and keep off it as much as possible.
