Nets' Kittles, Eschmeyer Sidelined

Nets' Kittles, Eschmeyer Sidelined

April 10, 2000 |
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey guard Kerry Kittles joined Stephon Marbury on the sidelines Friday, missing the Nets' game with Miami because of swelling in his right knee.

``It's nothing structural,' said Nets coach Don Casey, who said Kittles' status would be evaluated daily.

Marbury, who has been bothered by tendinitis in his left knee in recent weeks, missed his first game of the season Wednesday, a loss to Indiana. An MRI on Thursday showed no structural damage but the team's leading scorer is not going to play for at least a week, the team said.

The Nets also placed rookie center Evan Eschmeyer on the injured list for the rest of the season. He sprained his left ankle on Wednesday night against Indiana.

Forward Mark Hendrickson, who split this season with Cleveland of the NBA and La Crosse of the CBA, was signed to a 10-day contract. He played 22 games with New Jersey last season, averaging 5.3 points.
