Nets' Muresan To Be Out Eight Weeks with Knee Injury

December 21, 1999 |  EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- New Jersey Nets center Gheorghe Muresan underwent surgery to repair a tear in the cartilage of his left knee and will be out at least eight weeks.

The 7-foot-7 Muresan has averaged just over 2 points per game in 16 appearances this season. The Nets signed him as a free agent in August.

The team placed Muresan on the injured list Wednesday and reactivated center Michael Cage, who spent five games on the injured list with a lower back strain.
