It doesn’t look like Brandon Inge’s prolotherapy worked in the long term. The Detroit Tigers’ third baseman is slated to have surgery on both knees on November 3.  The good news for Tigers fans? Their All-Star player should be ready in time for next year’s spring training.

An article about the upcoming surgeries can be found here. I thought this bit was interesting – to speed up Inge’s recovery process, doctors might use protein-rich plasma injections. Also, despite all his knee problems, Inge played 161 games this year – all but one! Wow, pretty impressive.

The third baseman for the Tigers, Brandon Inge, has been suffering from patella tendinitis in his left knee. This condition has forced his doctors to look for ways to treat his knee without allowing this player to become disabled. They ended up choosing an uncommon therapy called prolotherapy. This treatment involves injecting an irritant into the affected area to alert the body to try to fix it. He took an injection after Saturday's game and he'll have to see if this treatment helps with his knee pain. If you're suffering from knee pain, you may want to ask your doctor about this treatment.
