Hey Scotty-

It sounds like you need to switch doctors.. Their job is to make sure you understand every aspect of what is happening to you. The fact that you felt uncomfortable asking questions and were only given very brief, non-specific information is a little troubling. I suggest trying to use the Physician finder on Knee1 (??http://www.knee1.com/Physician_Finder) or asking your family physician for a recommendation to a specialist (someone in sports medicine perhaps? or orthopedic surgery?). I would also suggest doing this as quickly as you can- just in case. Getting a second opinion is something that you shouldn't be afraid of doing- think about it.. if the second opinion supports the initial diagnosis, thereby making you feel more comfortable with the situation, that would be a success. And even if it doesn't, then you have the opportunity to learn what is truly happening to your knee...

I hope this helps...

nearly 2 weeks ago i was warming up before a windsurfing competition i did a big forward loop and on landing something went very wrong i fell in the water the pain was coming from my left knee i reached down and felt two big bulges through my wetsuit left n right of my knee area? (which i thought was the end of the bones that connect in the knee, dont know there names but to me at the time it felt like my femer? had slipped left and the bottom part of my leg had slipped right.) so the i body dragged to the beach n got an ambulance (all in a hellish amount of pain). once at the hospital i got xrayed the doctor tried to move my leg which put me in tears it was that painfull, so then left it and said "looks like you have had a dislocated knee theres blood in the joint, im going to get you crutchs and a brace and you need to get to a fracture clinic in a weeks time when the swelling has gone down. so i went to the fracture clinic a week later by this time i have some movement in my knee the naval doctor asked me a few questions pulled on my leg n then said ok youve dislocated your kneecap keep the brace on for 6 weeks n rest it. Now i was really confused because i was sure that the bones had slipped apart. so i asked why did i feel huge bumps left n right? to which he replied sometime the skin will form a lump on the opposite side... now feeling rather stupid because of the way i was getting talked at i didnt want to ask anything else. now i left wondering what really happened, and weather im getting the right treatment (6weeks on crutches n then see a physio) having not had anything other than an xray to see whats inside. my knee feels very strange not easy to describe if i was asked to sum it up in a word i would say 'fucked' however it will take weight but does feels like its going to snap. if anyone has any thoughts i would love to hear them. Background: age 15 i twisted my knee chipped my kneecap and partially damaged my cruciate however not enough to warrent repair work, since doing this i have always have a weak knee and have twisted on it 3 time since, twice i ended up on crutches but only for a week or so. im now 23. Thanks Scotty
