Referred Pain to the Knee

Symptoms

A ghost pain in the knee that comes and goes and cannot be pinpointed may indicate referred pain. Often, however, referred pain accompanies an existing knee ailment, such as osteoarthritis or a tear of a ligament. As a result, the referred pain may be an echo of the intra-articular stimulus, or the pain actually inside the joint.
