Diagnosis And Treatment

Treatment is often geared toward stopping the offending exercise. NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, acetaminophen, and naproxen are often helpful, as is ice when swelling is present. As with any troublesome injury, follow the RICE procedure: Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation of the affected joint. Very rarely, surgical excision of part of the ITB is required.
