Chronic Swelling

Patient Actions

See your doctor...
Since swelling may be indicative of a serious knee problem, it is important to consult with your doctor as soon as possible. It is hard for a patient to determine the exact cause of swelling. Sometimes, a sample of fluid needs to be taken from the knee to be analyzed. This sample can aid in the evaluation for blood, infection, gout, arthritis and the many other sources of swelling above.
